CALL TO ACTION: No Tax Warriors, Rise Up Against Measure 120!
Fellow freedom fighters —
I, Jeannette Bondsteel, on behalf of the referendum signers of Coos County, am one of the PETITIONERS in the lawsuit (injunction) against the Oregon SOS Tobias Reed and the State of Oregon. This injunction is an effort to stop the NO Gas Tax referendum from being moved from the November ballot to the May primary ballot. Our opposition to Measure 120 needs to have an opposition statement in the voters pamphlet but the last minute actions of the SOS and the Governor's office have put us in a situation where they don't "have time" to add our opposing statements. I know it seems improbable that we can make any changes to the corrupt handling of this referendum but please help me give it this last go.
The Democrats have rammed through HB1599, shoving the sneaky gas tax referendum onto the May primary ballot as Measure 120. This isn't just another tax grab; it's a blatant attack on your wallet and your voice. We say NO to new taxes – and we need YOU to make your opposition heard LOUD and CLEAR in the voter's pamphlet!
Here's the scam: Normally, we'd have plenty of time to rally and submit opposition statements in the voters pamphlet. But because they passed this so late, we've got a razor-thin deadline – all statements must be in by March 12, 2026. This short deadline disenfranchises everyday folks like you and me! Instead of paying the SOS's outrageous $1,200 "extortion fee" to have your opinion considered for the pamphlet, you could gather 500 signatures to get in for free. But with this impossible timeline it's designed to silence us. This is why we need as many people trying to get their voice heard as possible!
A lawsuit is already underway, led by Rep. Ed Diel, to fight this voter suppression. We need to arm that lawsuit with firepower: Flood the Secretary of State with YOUR personal opposition statements! Show them we won't be bullied – that this rushed process makes real participation impossible.
What to Do RIGHT NOW:
- Write a brief opposition statement against Measure 120 (keep it simple: "NO to New Taxes!" or expand to a couple of paragraphs explaining why this tax hike hurts families, businesses, and our economy).
- Make it YOUR voice – no copy-paste templates; authenticity counts! It can be as simple as "I do not approve of the gas tax being imposed on Oregonians and I oppose the moving of the NO Gas Tax referendum to the May 2026 election."
- Submit it following the ORSTAR directions below (your statement opposes the taxes, supporting a NO vote on the referendum – it's confusing, but that's how we beat their game).
Time is ticking – act TODAY before March 12! Every statement counts. Join the resistance: Submit yours, vote NO on Measure 120, and let's crush this tax tyranny together. Just Say NO to New Taxes – your financial future depends on it!
Here's a simplified, step-by-step guide to submitting your opposition statement (argument) to **Measure 120** in the Oregon State Voters' Pamphlet. This is based on the official process via the Secretary of State's ORESTAR system. The deadline is tight—March 12, 2026—so act quickly!
Simplified Steps to Submit Your Measure Argument
https://sos.oregon.gov/elections/Documents/Voters-Pamphlet-Filing-Quick-Guide.pdf
The instructions are on page 4.
When you get to the screen that says Search/Filer by Committee go to the menu on the left side and open SUBMIT NEW FILING
then down to FILE VOTERS PAMPHLET STATEMENT/ARGUMENT
Select 2026 Primary, MEASURE ARGUMENT then PETITION FILING
This should take you to a form to complete with all of your information. It'll let you work through the form but you have to fill out all levels in the form or it will kick it back to you with red marks to be completed.
Your statement helps show opposition to the new taxes and highlights how the rushed timeline blocks free participation via signatures. Every individual submission adds pressure—thanks for stepping up! Just say NO to Measure 120!
